J A Henckels Friodur Stainless 4pc Carving Set Gold Wash Nickel Stag Solingen 1950s

J A Henckels Friodur Stainless 4pc Carving Set Gold Wash Nickel Stag Solingen 1950s

J A Henckels 'Friodur' stainless carving set in lightly used condition with 8.75" blade knife, honing rod, fork and nickel plated carbon steel poultry shears. Blade has been sharpened very little (there are some light scratches from honing rod) and is very full with a gold washed forest scene on the blade.

Stag handles have a nice honey tone and show little damage from washing, knife has faded a little more than the others, there were a few light rust spots on the shears which have been lightly cleaned, fork tines are nice and straight and the guard has no wiggle.

The 'friodur' deep freeze treatment for stainless was develeoped in 1939 by Henckels and greatly improved the stainless steel of the day providing better edge life, easier sharpening and better stainless properties. The Friodur logo changed little until the 1960s but the style of the art along with the ferrules looks like early 50s.

In great shape, but no box
